The supervisor asked for donations in Tweet at pro-choice rally.
Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley appears to have used a pro-choice protest at Main Beach to raise funds. While at the protest, Foley sent out a tweet asking residents to donate to her campaign.
“My opponent just voted against letting the voters decide on a CA Constitutional Amendment to secure the right to abortion & contraception,” tweeted Foley. “We can’t go backwards!”
She concluded her tweet with a link to donate to her campaign and volunteer. Foley is leaning into the sensitive issue of abortion like many other Democrats across the country.
Approximately 400 people showed up to protest in solidarity with a national march supporting abortion rights. Foley was also joined by Democratic congressional candidate Harley Rouda and Democratic Assemblymember Cottie Petrie Norris. Several Laguna Beach police officers were present at the protest to ensure no violence broke out.
The march was sponsored by the Women’s March Action, a national coalition of more than 90 groups working to mobilize cities ahead of the reconvening of the U.S. Supreme Court on October 4.
